Map

June 2002. Norfolk NMP.
An area of light material (chalk?) is visible as a soilmark on 1946 and 1988 vertical images (S1 and S2). The spread has a length of 25m and a width of 15m. Although many of the lines run parallel with the direction of the plough, this would still suggest that there is a deposit of chalk like material that is regularly being disturbed by agricultural practices. This may be an isolated natural outcrop, but it seems equally likely that this is the site of a former structure. The date of the structure is unknown, but note the presence of Roman (NHER 1787) and Saxon (NHER 21446) finds in the area, and reused building material to the northwest (NHER 36302).
M. Brennand (NMP), 5 June 2002.
