Civil Parish BURNHAM THORPE, WEST NORFOLK, NORFOLK

Map

June 2002. Norfolk NMP.
The feature is aligned in an east to west direction, and has a minimum recorded length of 465m. The feature is relatively straight but appears to kink towards the southeast at its eastern end. There is a second shorter length of ditched linear feature to the north, on a northwest to southeast alignment.

These features are likely to be ditched land boundaries or drains, and are probably post medieval in date. It does not appear as a field boundary on the 1891 Ordnance Survey map (S2) and its course is truncated by a road at that time (S2). It is possible that this feature is caused by a modern service trench, although this seems unlikely.
M. Brennand (NMP), 10 June 2002.
