Summary

Fieldwalking, metal detecting, resistivity survey and trial trenches were carried out by SHARP. Fieldwalking and metal detecting recovered pieces of prehistoric, Roman, Middle Saxon, Late Saxon and medieval pot and metal finds including a Middle Saxon strap end. A prehistoric pot and flint scatter was recorded during fieldwalking. The cropmark site (NHER 33599) has been suggested to be similar to those of Early Saxon temples but no Early Saxon finds were recovered. Excavations recorded an undated shallow ditch that had been heavily eroded by agricultural activity.
