Summary

Fieldwalking in 1996 near to the site of building shown on maps of 1797 and 1815 recovered a prehistoric flint scraper and sherds of medieval and post medieval pottery.

March 1996. Casual fieldwalking near site of building shown on Faden and Enclosure Map (1815), under winter cereal and with much of ground surface obscured, edges of possible concentration not established. On eastern edge of a former common.
Fourteen sherds medieval pot weighing 54g, and comprising seven unglazed local (including bowl rim), and seven glazed Grimston (one stabbed strap handle).
Three post medieval sherds, probably 18th century comprising two glazed red earthenware and one stoneware (47g).
One tiny fragment lava quern (6g).
