Map

March 2004, Norfolk NMP
A trackway, ditches and a possible enclosure are visible as cropmarks on a vertical aerial photograph from 1944 (S1) and oblique aerial photographs from 1992 (S2). A number of the features appear to be associated although no coherent pattern is evident and it is possible that some elements may not be contemporary. They are all undated, and while the track, if projected to the south, appears to lead towards an Iron Age to Roman settlement (NHER 38463), no direct link can be made between the two sites and a later date is equally plausible.

The curvilinear trackway, which is approximately 8.5m wide, is visible for 200m as a negative cropmark (suggesting some kind of surface) bounded by parallel ditches. It is met, at TG 2036 3587, by a ditch, aligned north to south, which is not visible to the south of the track and is presumably associated with it. To the north, a linear ditch, the west end of which lies parallel to the trackway, joins a possible sub-rectangular (or curvilinear) enclosure at its east end (at TG 2037 3593). The enclosure measures 23m wide and at least 25m long. To the south, an 18m long section of ditch is also visible; its relationship with the features described above is unknown.
