Summary

In 2003 a medieval seal matrix, allegedly found by a member of a Norwich metal detecting club, was purchased. The matrix was circular with a lamb and flag motif. Several other matrices with similar legends and devices have been found in Norfolk.

Purchased 2003, allegedly found by a member of a Norwich metal detecting club probably in Norfolk.
Seal matrix: copper alloy, hexagonally facetted conical handle with collared pierced trefoil terminal. Circular, 18mm, Lamb and Flag, + ECCE AGNVS DE (Behold the Lamb of God). The initial cross surmounts the flag. The N is retrograde.
Several other matrices with similar legends and devices & found in Norfolk have been recorded, but there is not match for this one in the NHER.
