Roman copper alloy vulvate military harness mount, hexagonal, central boss with longitudinal cleft and two integral disc-headed studs on reverse. The edges are incomplete. Min 28 x 17mm, thickness 11mm. Gap between reverse of plate and disc head 4mm. Cf. Allason-Jones and Miket, South Shields (1984) nos. 3.870-1 and Bishop, Aldborough (1996) no.440. Later 2nd - 3rd century.
