Summary

A small rectilinear enclosure of unknown date and function is visible as a soilmark or vegetation mark on aerial photographs. Morphologically, it bears some resemblance to an enclosure of probable medieval or post-medieval date 250m to its west (NHER 38553). The latter enclosure surrounds a quarry pit.

A small rectilinear enclosure is visible as a soilmark or vegetation mark on aerial photographs (S1-2), centred at TG 2313 3678. Its function and date are unknown, but it is morphologically similar to an enclosure 250m to its west (NHER 38553) which surrounds a quarry pit and is probably medieval or post-medieval in date. Alternatively, although the enclosure is visible on two sets of aerial photographs, it is not particularly clear on either and it is possible that the soilmark was formed by modern agricultural activity.

The rectilinear enclosure is almost trapezoidal in plan. It measures up to 39m long and 32m wide. The projection of its south-west side beyond its southern corner suggests that it may be part of a larger feature, in which case the relatively narrow ditch forming its south-east side is subdivision. A separate but probably associated ditch is visible for 17m, lying parallel to and 9m outside the south-west side of the enclosure.
