Possible coin hoard, 1989-2002. [1]
CNG (Classical Numismatic Galleries), Triton V 15-16 Jan 2002, p.266 describes lot 2454 as being '[r]eportedly found in 1990 by a farmer searching a field in Sprowston, Norwich. The farmer had previously found two other groats of Edward I which were sold in a Christie's auction in February 1989'.
The catalogue of the Christie's auction cited does not mention the source of the coins.
The inference must be that at least three Edward I groats were found.
A. Rogerson (NLA), 24 November 2003.
