Summary

A large rectangular ditched enclosure is visible as a soilmark on aerial photographs. The enclosure is probably the remains of a medieval farm, which may have been a manorial site. Medieval and post medieval pottery has been found on the site.

3 conjoined enclosures on north side of present field.
On RAF aerial photographs of 1946 these enclosures are visible as earthmarks.
Probably the site of manor house? Not a Roman fort.

(S1) revealed rectangular enclosure as soilmark with external ditch.

10 March 1963. Visit.
Showed gravel spread in line of bank.
Approx distance from east to west 75 paces (68m).
A few medieval and post medieval sherds found on the surface.
Possibly a medieval ditched farmhouse site but could be older.
