Summary

In 2003 a range of finds were recovered during the construction of a new driveway in the garden of this property. These included many Roman pottery sherds and tiles, as well as prehistoric flint flakes and post-medieval pottery sherds. Significantly, the Roman tile recovered at this site (either during or subsequent to this work) is known to include box flue tile - indicating the presence of a building of some status in the vicinity. It is possible that such a building stood at this location, as it is also reported that a possible Roman wall was encountered during gardening work. The exact date and circumstances of this discovery are not known.
