Summary

Many objects were recovered during metal-detecting at unknown location in North Norfolk prior to 1998. These finds (all of which were donated to the Norwich Castle Museum) include several hundred Roman coins; Iron Age, medieval and post-medieval coins; medieval and post-medieval jettons and tokens and various other Bronze Age to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Bronze Age sword/rapier fragment; an Iron Age brooch; Roman brooches and other objects; Early Saxon and Middle/Late Saxon dress accessories; a Late Saxon (Viking) brooch; a Late Saxon buckle and stirrup mounts and a wide range of medieval; medieval/post-medieval and post-medieval objects. The Late Saxon D-shaped buckle is an important piece as it is the only Norfolk example of this type that retains its plate.
