Full Description
Pre 1892. On Wereham Green.
Handled food vessel 10.2cm (4in) high. Decorated with two lines of bird-bone impressions below rim.
Held by Cambridge Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography. (Wakes Green bequest).
Photographed by NCM.
See (S1), (S2) and (S3).
Location of the Green noted by E. Rose (NAU) 25 May 1977. It is small enough to give an eight-figure reference.
By coincidence this is also the site of St Margarets Well (Ordnance Survey 25in).
E. Rose (NAU).
Reference (S4) in file notes a monument over a spring somewhere near this site built by Abraham Sewell in 1849.
Is this connected with the well?
E. Rose (NLA) 15 January 1999.
