Map

Probably 18th century, plastered. Slate roof with gables and paired eaves brackets. Two storeys, three bays. Blocked door to left with hood on shaped brackets. Offcentre stack.
Details from (S1).

December 2005.
Stripping of interior of adjacent building to south revealed the south wall of the Old Bakery. It has jowled corner posts supporting a wallplate by arched braces. The infill is of studwork with wattle and daub. The scantling of the timbers would suggest an early 17th century date yet the building to the south, which butts against it, may be older than this. The east wallplate and sillbeam project from the wall giving a slight possibility that the Old Bakery house may once have been longer.
For full discussion see under NHER 42787 but certainly The Old Bakery must be at least 150 years older than the (S1) date and has more than “group interest”.
E. Rose (NLA), 16 December 2005.
