Summary

This stucco building with two storeys and an attic probably dates to the 18th century and earlier. The ground floor has two mid to late 19th century shop fronts. No. 21 and a cottage to the rear has been demolished and all that remains of it is a chimney against the present east gable.

Listing Description excerpt:
"Probably 18th century and earlier, with alterations. Two storey and attic storey with blank recesses and with parapet above. Stucco. Second floor cill band. Three sash windows at first floor with glazing bars, and arched casement window. Shop fronts with wood cases, No 17 late 19th century, No 19 mid 19th century. Part of street range, in important position.
Nos 13 to 19 (odd) [NHERs 46781, 40232, 40231 and 40230] form a group with Nos 11 to 13 (consec) Market Place [NHERs 39686, 39687 and 46781]."

Details from (S1) which notes "formerly included No. 21 and cottage at rear". A chimney against the present east gable, seen only from a distance by E. Rose (NLA) in January 2004, seems to be the last remnant of the cottages.
