Map

November 2002. Norfolk NMP.
There appear to be the cropmarks of a distinct double ditched linear feature visible on BKS aerial photographs from 1957 (S1). The ditches are about 10m to 15m apart and run from about NGR TF9109 4315 to TF9134 4302. It seems likely that this is the remains of a road/trackway, the date of which is unknown. There is no sign of a road here on the 1st or 2nd edition Ordnance Survey maps (S2-3) or Faden’s map of Norfolk (S4) or Bryant’s map of Norfolk (S5).
(However, one thing that must be taken into consideration is the fact that these features appear to run from one corner of a field towards another (as marked on the 2nd edition OS map and to be seen on the BKS aerial photographs), so although they appear very clear and definite there is always the possibility that they are connected to more modern agricultural practice.)
H. Clare (NMP), 27 November 2002.
