Summary

Metal-detecting between 2004 and 2020 recovered a Neolithic flint scraper; Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; Roman ceramic tiles (including a tegula fragment); undated metalworking debris; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; medieval jettons and a range of other, Middle Bronze Age to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include a Middle Bronze Age quoit-headed pin; a Late Iron Age/Roman brooch; Roman brooches, a mount and probable snake's-head bracelet terminal; Late Saxon strap ends; a medieval key, mount, horse harness pendant and harness fitting; a medieval/post-medieval silver lace tag and copper alloy vessel fragment and post-medieval buckles and cooking-vessel stand.

This is likely the site of a Roman building or settlement as Roman tile fragments, dressed stone, pottery sherds and metal finds were recovered from this site during the metal-detecting rally [3]. Late Saxon, medieval and post-medieval metalwork was also recovered.
As of August 2020, numerus additional finds recovered during this rally are still to be handed in to HES for identification.

The finds recovered from this site may relate to curvi-linear features, boundary ditches and pit-like features identified during a magnetometer survey undertaken in September 2020 and centered on [12]. The full details of the survey are recorded under NHER 64157.
