Map

May 2004. Norfolk NMP.
A group of possible earthworks, consisting of pits and mounds, possibly relating to quarrying, of unknown date, are visible on aerial photographs within Weybourne Wood. (S1).
The site is centred on 1240 4127, at which point there is a large, 14m by 7m, sunken area, surrounded by a slight upcast bank to the south. Two large round pits are located to the east of the site. At TG 1237 4130 is a rectangular sunken area (8m by 6.5m), with a 21m long bank to the west and an irregular shaped mound to the east. It seems likely that these earthworks relate to small-scale quarrying and extraction in this area. The date of this activity is unknown although it is possible that it is relatively late and post medieval.
