Map

Norfolk NMP. October 2002.
A possible mound or barrow site was tentatively identified at this site from 1946 RAF aerial photographs (S1) and OS aerial photographs from 1969 (S2). However the mound visible could have been caused by gorse and vegetation. This possible site was visited by Ray Loveday and it does seem that the mound was in fact gorse, however a circular pit or hollow, 7m across was identified amongst the vegetation (see secondary file). The heath also had a massive amount of military training and activity, both during World War Two and after. To the immediate south of the site is NHER 27876, a gun emplacement and it possible that the two are related, although the hollow could be of any date or even natural.
S. Massey (NMP), 12 May 2003.
