Full Description
October 2002. Norfolk NMP.
Possible ring ditch visible on Ordnance Survey aerial photographs from 1969 (S1). The circular feature is located at TG 0774 4130 and measures 15m in diameter. The northern arc is obscured by geology. The archaeological origin of this feature is not certain, the mark may itself be geological in origin. However given the fact that is situated within an area of known Bronze Age barrows and ring ditches (NHER 6200 to 6 and 36399 and 17479) then it has been mapped as a possible additional example.
S. Massey (NMP), 23 December 2002.
July 2013–April 2014. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of site on proposed route of Dudgeon Offshore Windfarm onshore cable.
This survey revealed no evidence for surviving sub-surface remains associated with this possible ring-ditch.
See report (S2) and NHER 67329 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 20 August July 2023.
November 2013-October 2014. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of Dudgeon Offshore Windfarm onshore cable.
The single trench excavated at this location was positioned to partially coincide with the recorded position of this cropmark.
There was again no evidence for associated sub-surface remains.
See report (S3) and NHER 67329 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 20 August July 2023.
