Map

July 2002. Norfolk NMP.
One end of a hulk is visible buried within the sands to the north west of Beach Road, East Runton, approximately 50m from the modern coastline and 10m from the high tide mark. This wreck cannot convincingly be matched to any of the recorded wrecks on the maritime listings on the NMR database. Other elements of marine debris or buried structures are visible and the whole site is centred on TG 1993 4291. These features are only visible on Ordnance Survey aerial photographs from 1967 (S1). It is possible that a storm or scour event has partially exposed this structure on the beach. The date of this wreck and the other features is not known although a post-medieval date seems likely.

The visible section of the wreck is centred on TG 1993 4290 and measures 9m long and 10m wide. Within the body of the boat a 1m wide object or partially visible structure is projecting out from the silt and sand. This may be part of the boat, although it is possible that it is marine debris lodged within the wreck deposit. To the north is a larger, roughly oblong feature at TG 1992 4292, measuring 2.5m by 1.5m. To the immediate north of this is a possible L-shaped linear feature 4.5m long and also centred on TG 1992 4292. A third, roughly ovoid, feature is visible at TG 1994 4291, measuring 1m by 0.5m. Again this may be marine debris or possibly buried deposits relating to the wreck.
