Cropmarks of a rectilinear enclosure and linear ditches are visible on aerial photographs (S1). Other cropmarks previously recorded under this number have been moved to NHER 49230-1. The central grid reference for the enclosure has been adjusted from TG 3869 1926 to TG 3861 1918. The enclosure has a sub-rectangular, slightly trapezoidal plan with external dimensions of 84m by 73m. A single entrance is present on its east side. Narrow linear ditches extend to the north and south of the enclosure from its northwest and southeast corners. Enclosures of this type are relatively common in the east Norfolk landscape, with another example present 1.5km to the southwest (NHER 36753). However, their simple form makes them difficult to date and they could originate anywhere between the late prehistoric and post medieval periods.
J. Albone (NMP), 19 January 2007
