Map

July 2004. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of a bank and ditches, probably a medieval to post medieval field boundary, are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These cropmarks are located around TG35133138. The bank is flanked by a single ditch on each side and extends for a distance of 30m on a northwest - southeast alignment. This alignment is continued 90m further to the southeast by a field boundary shown on the 1844 Ridlington tithe map (S2) and later maps. However, the boundary shown on the maps and the cropmark both lie at a diagonal to the main alignment of the 19th century fields, suggesting that they are earlier. It is possible that the cropmark and the associated boundary shown on the maps belong to a medieval or post-medieval field pattern, although an earlier date need not be ruled out.
