Map

July 2003. NMP.
Two ditches are aligned in an approximately east to west direction. The northern ditch is straight and is visible for a length of 253m (S1). The southern ditch is visible for a length of 390m. The southern ditch is very slightly curved so, although it is running parallel with the northern one, the area between them widens at the ends and narrows at the centre. The area between the ditches has a lighter appearance which may be natural but may be cased by a compacted soil, possibly caused by animal traffic. These features may be land boundary features of some antiquity, but equally they may be drains of a post medieval or even modern date.
Attached to the southern side of the western end of the southern ditch is a sub triangular area of lighter crop, possibly representing a former mound or compacted area. The lighter area has a maximum east to west length of 24m. The feature appears to be surrounded by a wide irregular ditch, although this is not well defined and may actually be a natural feature such as a channel. Within the centre of the lighter area is a sub rectangular dark cropmarks which is likely to be caused by a pit. This feature appears to be a mound with a pit at its centre, and possibly surrounded by a ditch. It may be anthropogenic and represent the site of a small structure or building but equally it may be natural.
