Civil Parish KING’S LYNN, WEST NORFOLK, NORFOLK

Map

July 2003. NMP.
The features are fragmentary and neither forms a full, uninterrupted circle (S1). The northern feature (TF 6096 1936) appears as a pair of narrow, concentric banks with a narrow ditch between them. The feature has a possible maximum diameter of 8.8m. The southern feature (TF 6097 1934) appears as a single, fragmentary circular bank. The feature has a possible maximum diameter of 6.35m.
These are probably the remains of stack bases, and are common on the drained and reclaimed land in this area. They are probably post-medieval in date, although they are known in this form from earlier periods.
M. Brennand (NMP), 15 July 2003.
