Map

August 2003. NMP.
Earthwork bank running alongside the Middleton Stop Drain, visible on RAF aerial photographs from 1945 (S1). The bank is visible in four sections, although it is likely that it was once continuous, running from TF 64492 18503 to TF 63406 19119. The bank varies in width from 2.5m to 10m. The bank is depicted on the Ordnance Survey 2nd edition map (1902-7, 25in) (S2). Similar features can be seen continuing to the east and west on the map. It seems likely that these earthworks are post-medieval in date.
M. Brennand (NMP) 13 August 2003.
