Map

August 2004. Norfolk NMP.
A cropmark of an incomplete rectilinear enclosure of uncertain date is visible on aerial photographs (S1). The enclosure measures 66m by at least 62m and is centred on TG35242947. The south, west and east sides of the enclosure are defined by a ditch, measuring up to 3m wide. No evidence of the northern side of the enclosure was visible as cropmarks. The form of this enclosure makes it difficult to date, although similarities with a possible medieval to post medieval enclosure 480m to the northeast (NHER 38709) may indicate a broadly contemporary date. The apparent alignment of the eastern side of the enclosure with the modern course of Fox Hill Road may also support this date. However, an earlier, possibly Iron Age or Roman date, cannot be ruled out.
(S1).
