Map

August 2004. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of post medieval field boundaries, other undated ditches and a possible trackway are visible on aerial photographs (S1 and 2). A number of ditches mainly on a north to south alignment comparable to the existing post medieval field pattern, are located around TG36242943. It is likely that these cropmarks are also post medieval field boundaries. Parts of some of these ditches are marked as boundaries on the 1810 East Ruston Enclosure map (S4) although none are represented on the 1841 East Ruston tithe map or later maps (S3). Two parallel ditches extending for up to 60m are located to the north of East Ruston Hall at TG36382964. Although undated it is possible that these ditches also relate to medieval or post medieval boundaries. A further two parallel ditches which extend for 40m on a southwest to northeast alignment at TG36262941 may relate to an undated trackway. This feature could represent a continuation of a possible medieval to post medieval trackway 500m further to the northeast (NHER 38719).
