Full Description
August 2004. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed development site. Contexts 1-42.
Probable post medieval drainage or field boundary ditches, bank deposits and a single post hole were recorded. The lack of earlier material (apart from residual pottery and tile) suggested that the site was reserved for the grazing of animals as early as the Roman period.
See report (S1) for further details. The results of this work are also summarised in (S2).
A. Cattermole (NLA), 22 February 2006.
