Summary

A World War Two air raid shelter is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs. It appears to have been a semi-sunken structure which was covered over with earth. It is located within the garden of 'Greystones' and was presumably a small shelter intended for the use of the inhabitants of the house. It was constructed prior to June 1942 and may have still survived as an earthwork, at least partially, in 2002.

Map

November 2004. Norfolk NMP.
A World War Two air raid shelter is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs taken from 1942 onwards (S1-2), centred at TG 2812 3873. It appears to be a semi-sunken structure, covered over with earth, with an entrance on its south side. It was constructed by June 1942 (S1); an oblique aerial photograph taken in 1940 (S3) is not clear enough to show whether it existed at that date. It may have continued to survive as an earthwork until at least 2002 (S4).
