Summary

What may be a partially eroded World War Two emplacement, probably for a gun, is visible as a structure and earthworks on aerial photographs. The photographs, which were taken in 1942, show part of a circular structure associated with two sub-circular pits on the cliff edge at Trimingham. These remains seem likely to form part of the extensive defences which were constructed along this stretch of coast during World War Two. The probable emplacement must have been constructed after September 1940, as it is not visible on photographs of that date. The site appears to have been entirely destroyed through coastal erosion by 1946.
