NHER 38958 (Monument record) - Cropmarks of linear ditch of uncertain date

A linear ditch of unknown date and function is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs. It is possible that it forms an outlying part of an extensive field system of probable Iron Age to Roman date which has been identified to its southeast (e.g. NHER 38961). Alternatively, it might be associated with field boundaries of medieval and post medieval date (NHER 38963 and NHER 38960 respectively) that have been mapped to its northeast. Unfortunately, too little is visible to draw any firm conclusions, and it is also possible that the cropmark is a product of modern agricultural activity rather than the presence of an archaeological feature.
