January 2005. Trial Trench. Contexts 1-224.
Excavations revealed a complex sequence of occupation activity, originating in the Early Saxon or Middle Saxon period and including dense medieval and post medieval remains. The early medieval period exhibits particularly intense activity, with evidence of metalworking as well as fishing industry by-products. The site was formally developed by the 13th to 14th century, as demonstrated by a series of stone or flint built structures.
