Summary

This mid 18th century red brick house with a hipped slate roof has two storeys, an attic and a basement. The south façade has five bays with sash windows under arches. The central entrance has an Ionic portico with a pediment. The building has later wings attached to the north. The attached stable block and coach house is built of red brick and slate and has two large openings to north.

Mid 18th century red brick house with hipped slate roof. Two storeys, attic and basement. south façade five bays. Sash windows under arches. Stone string course, cill course, moulded eaves. Central entrance with Ionic portico with pediment. Two stacks north of ridge. Pedimented dormers. Two storey bay windows to east and west. Later wings to north. Attached stable block and coach house of red brick and slate, two large openings to north. Title of (S1) entry says 'and boundary walls' but these are not mentioned in the description.
Information from (S1).

(S2) states that the house is reputed to have been built by 3rd Viscount Townshend in 1760 for Elizabeth Walker, but other sources list owners from 1749 yet say the present building is of 1780 to 1785 by John Hogg.
