Full Description
December 2004. Norfolk NMP.
Two World War Two bomb craters are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs (S1-2), centred at TG 3053 3669. The fact that they appear to be relatively fresh earthworks in January 1943 (S1) suggests that they were created in the preceding few months. Various possible targets exist in the area, which was the location of several military installations and was also heavily defended during World War Two. The craters lie approximately 45m apart and measure up to 13m in diameter. They are visible as cropmarks and possibly slight earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1946 (S2) but have since been entirely levelled.
