The brick kiln remains had been 'snagging' the plough. The area of the kiln was known to Mr Keiller as a topographical depression but in recent years bricks have been uncovered in quantity. He conducted a small excavation which uncovered the kiln. A. Hutcheson (NLA) recommended that the area be avoided and left unploughed.
