Cropmarks of an undated ditch defined trackway or road and associated enclosures are visible on aerial photographs (S1-2). These cropmarks are centred on TG 3237 3333 and were previously recorded as part of NHER 16013. Two parallel ditch cropmarks extend for up to 290m on a slightly sinuous southwest to northeast alignment between TG 3226 3324 and TG 3248 3343. Both ditches are only visible for the first 180m from the southwestern end with the remainder defined by a separate single ditch along the northwestern side. The ditches are spaced 14m apart. This trackway is cut by a modern farm track and does not relate to the present or post medieval field pattern. It also crosses or is cut by a large rectilinear field system of possible Roman date (NHER 39097). Cropmarks of ditches on parallel and perpendicular alignments are present to the northwest and southeast of the trackway. Although these cropmarks are fragmentary it is possible that they represent enclosures associated with the trackway. The date of these cropmarks is not clear, but they could be prehistoric or Roman to medieval. If the trackway is of medieval date, it could conceivably have continued to join the northern end of Church Lane 190m to its southwest.
