Summary

An undated bank is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs. It may been part of a field boundary or trackway and is probably post medieval in date. If it was part of a trackway it could have been built during the construction of the Norfolk and Suffolk Joint Railway (NHER 13585).

Map

December 2004. Norfolk NMP.
A bank or trackway is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs (S1), from approximately TG 2905 3776 to TG 2903 3770. It can be seen as a relatively distinct negative cropmark suggesting that it is of fairly recent date, and as it also appears to more or less fit the pattern of enclosure depicted on historic maps (for example, (S2)) a post medieval date for the feature seems likely. If it represents a levelled bank, it may be the remains of a former field boundary. Alternatively, it might be a trackway, perhaps associated with the construction of the railway (NHER 13585), now dismantled, which lies at its southern end.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 17 December 2004.
