Map

December 2004. Norfolk NMP.
Two earthworks of probable post medieval date are visible on aerial photographs within the woodland to the north of Cromer station (S1) and (S2). One of the earthworks appears to be an extraction pit and the other an L-shaped bank, possibly relating to an old woodland division or boundary.

The site is centred on TG 2174 4080 and the earthworks are situated on a slope on the edge of the woodland belt. The southern earthwork consists of an oval pit, which appears to have a quite pronounced cone shaped profile. Two slight banks of up-cast material surround this pit. This feature would appear to be an extraction pit or related to some sort of small-scale industry. The bank 25m to the north consist of a short L-shaped section of bank, up to 2m wide is 7m long and 5m long in each direction.
