Summary

A group of undated linear ditch cropmarks, which may represent part of two incomplete rectilinear enclosures or enclosed areas, lie to the south of Roundabout Hill in East Runton. However the archaeological origin of these features is not certain as they in part correspond with geological cropmarks showing banding running along a similar alignment.

A group of undated linear ditch cropmarks, which may represent part of two incomplete enclosures or areas to the south of Roundabout Hill, East Runton. However the archaeological origin of these features is not certain as they in part correspond with geological cropmarks showing banding running along a similar alignment.

The site is centred on TG 2013 4174. The cropmarks consist of two opposed L-shaped ditches running from TG 2015 4173 to TG 2015 4176 and from TG 2012 4172 to TG 2010 4174. This second linear has a parallel ditch running alongside it, possibly indicating a trackway or double-ditched defined component. It is possible that these two L-shaped ditches reveal the corners of rectilinear enclosures and enclosed areas. Other cropmarks in this area have been interpreted as being former field boundaries (NHER 39140).
