Full Description
Norfolk NMP, September 2003.
A cropmark linear feature of uncertain date can be seen on Meridian Airmaps Limited aerial photographs from 1961 (S1). This linear feature is about 58m in length and runs north to south, from about NGR TG1721 4294 to TG1722 4289. Although the date is uncertain it is possible that this feature relates to the surrounding field pattern and could therefore be the remains of perhaps a post medieval field boundary; a sub division of the current field which no longer remains. There is no sign of it on the Ordnance Survey 1:10560 1st edition (S2) or Ordnance Survey 25in 2nd edition (S3) maps, which would suggest that if it is a boundary it had gone out of use by this time.
A short distance to the south of it there is possibly a linear running east to west, perhaps a further subdivision that the first linear adjoins. This possible second linear has not been mapped as it is very faint and unclear.
(These features, although most likely ditches, appear to be showing in the crop in reverse).
H. Clare (NMP) 11 September 2003.
