Map

December 2004. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of undated ditches and post medieval field boundaries are visible on aerial photographs (S1-2). These cropmarks are centred on TG 3377 3412. A southeast to northwest ditch extends for 160m between TG 3380 3397 and TG 3370 3410. At its northwest end it meets a southwest to northeast ditch, which extends intermittently for 155m. These ditches appear to correspond to field boundaries shown on the 1845 Bacton tithe map (S3). The southwest to northeast ditch appears to curve to respect a ring ditch cropmark (NHER 6914), suggesting that the barrow may still have been an earthwork when this boundary was laid out. Aligned roughly southwest to northeast between TG 3372 3411 and TG 3388 3415 is another boundary ditch cropmark with a further ditch extending for 56m to its northwest. These ditches seem to match boundaries marked on the 1827 enclosure map (S4). Three other undated ditches are present in the west of this group of cropmarks at TG 3369 3409 on northwest to southeast and southwest to northeast alignments.
