Summary

A group of undated cropmark ditches is visible to the immediate east of Furze Hill. The area of these cropmarks has since been built over and is now the location of St Martins Close, Cromer. At least one of these ditches is likely to represent a former field boundary or wood boundary.

Location

Civil Parish CROMER, NORTH NORFOLK, NORFOLK

Map

December 2004. Norfolk NMP.
The site is covered with a series of geological and agricultural marks. It is possible that further archaeological cropmarks have not been identified in amongst these non-archaeological features. The site is centred on TG 2241 4107. The main feature visible consists of a curvilinear ditch running from TG 2236 4106 to TG 2241 4108. This is likely to represent a field boundary or former wood boundary. To the south of this are further linear ditches, which are much more narrow and have a similar appearance to the geological cropmarks and therefore may be non archaeological.
S. Massey (NMP), 29 December 2004.
