Summary

Two small structures are visible on aerial photographs, situated on the beach at Mundesley. The cliffs above were heavily defended during World War Two (NHER 39148 and 39197) and it seems likely that these structures are associated features which have fallen from the cliffs above.

Map

January 2005. Norfolk NMP.
Two small structures are visible on aerial photographs (S1-2), at approximately TG 3001 3782 and TG 3003 3781. Their proximity to World War Two coastal defences (NHER 39148 and 39197), which were located on the cliffs above, suggests that they might be military structures which have fell onto the beach as the cliffs eroded. The easternmost structure, which is roughly square in shape, is visible only on aerial photographs taken in 1949 (S1). The circular westernmost structure is visible both in 1949 and 1952 (S1-2). Inadequate control points for rectifying the aerial photographs means that the location of the site is approximate.
