Summary

A dense concentration of undated ditches or pits, part of a post medieval field boundary system and prehistoric or Roman extraction pits have been interpreted from a geophysical survey. A prehistoric flint flake, two probable Roman coins, a medieval copper alloy dagger point and a lead musket ball were found by fieldwalking and metal detecting.

January 2005. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetic susceptibility and gradiometer survey undertaken along route of proposed National Grid Transco Wicken Quarry Pipeline Diversion.
A variety of different magnetic anomalies were identified, these interpreted as a dense concentration of ditches or pits, part of a field boundary system and prehistoric or Roman extraction pits.

January 2005. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey.
Field survey undertaken along route of proposed National Grid Transco Wicken Quarry Pipeline Diversion.
No archaeological sites were identified. The finds recovered were limited to a single prehistoric flint flake, two probable Roman coins, a medieval copper alloy dagger point and a lead musket ball.
