Summary

Cropmarks of an incomplete ring ditch are visible on aerial photography from 1976. It is possible that this ring ditch is of Bronze Age date and it could relate to a round barrow or roundhouse.

Cropmarks of an incomplete ring ditch, of possible Bronze Age date, are visible on aerial photographs (S1). This cropmark is located at TG 3360 3180. The ring ditch is circular in form and has an external diameter of 19m with a 1m wide ditch. The southern side of the ditch is not visible as a cropmark and there is a 3m wide gap in its northern side. It is possible that this ring ditch is of Bronze Age date and it could relate to a round barrow or roundhouse. A barrow cemetery is located 270m to the north (NHER 39221) and other possible ring ditch cropmarks are present to the south (NHER 27236, 27232). A Neolithic leaf shaped arrowhead has previously been found in the immediate vicinity of this cropmark (NHER 1009 context 145).
