Full Description
Possible tumulus.
Situated on east side of road from Russells Plantation in direction of Foulden, about 137m (150 yards) from road. Diameter 45m (50 yards), height 2.5 to 3m (8 to10 feet). This is a beautiful rounded mound, but I am not certain of it as there is very little working by rabbits, although flakes are fairly numerous, also potboilers. There is a pit with water, close to road, in direct line with tumulus.
A. Q. Watson.
Upcast? 1.5m (5 feet).
R. R. Clarke (NCM).
5 May 1957. Visit.
Quite possible.
R. R. Clarke (NCM).
March 1976. Visit.
46m diameter, 1.08m high. Doubtful as barrow due to proximity of pits and second mound 40m diameter, 4m high, which is certainly upcast.
A. J. Lawson (NAU), 5 March 1976.
November 1983. Visit.
Very doubtful as barrow, probably aeolian.
J. Wymer (NAU), November 1983
