February 2005. Norfolk NMP.
World War Two barbed wire defences and an unidentified structure are visible on contemporary aerial photographs (S1-2). These remains are located at TG 3467 3346.
A curving area of barbed wire defences are located at TG 3465 3348 in the corner of the field alongside the road (S1). The line of the road has subsequently been straightened. Although the function of this barbed wire is not clear, it probably surrounded a gun emplacement or similar defensive position. A rectangular structure is visible adjacent to Abbey Street at TG 3471 3344 on 1946 aerial photographs (S2). This structure is possibly also present on 1943 aerial photographs but is not clearly visible. The function of this structure is not certain, but it is probably had a military purpose.
