Summary

This site was the supposed location of a gunnery control bunker from World War Two associated with the Cromer Coastal Battery, NHER 32566. An excavation in January 2005 found no evidence of any bunker on this site.

Evaluation of site of proposed new dwelling. Contexts 1-4.
Three trenches were excavated through a mound thought to represent a gunnery control bunker showed that it does not exist at this location.
Mound probably spoil created during construction of No. 17 in 1918.
