February 2005. Field Observation.
All of exterior seen.
17th century building of two storeys; plastered, was lined and painted when listed but not so now.
Continuous pantile roof with massive red brick chimney stack between 11 and 12, ie offcentre to building.
Three first floor windows, described in (S1) as flush frame mullion and transom, are in fact recessed metal casements and were clearly there at the time of listing.
No 12 alone has 'restored' timber framing above jetty with brick noggin, and 19th century shop front below; other shops 20th century.
Ground floor of No 9 alone seen, featureless except for one chamfered beam crossing a rear projection.
E. Rose (NLA), 10 February 2005.
Aug 2007. Noted in passing when examining site 50559; ground floor of buildings now stripped out revealing another chamfered beam, but the common joists are on edge. Pile of mortise and tenon joints arranged by builders in centre of floor, apparently once sections of wallposts.
E. Rose (NLA), 14 August 2007.
